Our daughter was just married in the new Bagg Farm Barn, the second wedding held here, we enjoyed this time spent here, granted a different setting but in line with our own farming life. A very good facility & getting better in the future. Thank you-Robert Evenson–married was Brian & Erin Meadows!

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if there is a certain name for the job of the stagecoach driver? and if there is a certain name for the job of the man who rides shot gun?

I was wondering because I recently found out that my Grandfather had the job of coachman in Iowa around 1900 to 1910.

I have a pair of Albino American bison horns. Both have been carved with an eagle and are mounted standing up. I am aware of the rarness of a true albino bison and would like your opion of their value and would the museum have an interest. As a native North Dakotan I obiously take pride in our historic sites, however, I feel that it is imperative that I comment on the Whitestone Battle. The history of military events are generally told from the perspective of the victorious (eg: the survivors), especially if they have better access to the media at the time of the conflict. There is no dispute that it was a bloody day; there is no dispute that the vast majority of the victims were women and children. That was not a battle, it was a slaughter of non-combatants; and to call the Whitestone Battle the bloodiest day of fighting in North Dakota is propoganda that is demeaning to the memory of the victims of the slaughter.

I’m curious about North Dakota and several item’s. what are the winter’s like, how is fishing and hunting. What species of animal can be hunted? What’re the cost’s of licenses for resident’s and/or nonresident’s? What would you say are the average taxes that a resident might pay?
How long is the average hunting season and what weapons’ are allowed?

My wife and I travelled around your interesting State several times with our travel trailer along with our sons. Here in Northern New Mexico (where I live, we don’t have any poisonous snakes, so we don’t have to look for them while in our forests, it’s most likely because I’m at 9,000′ and I hunt at around 10,000 to “almost” 11,000′ not that often at 11,000′).

In my high school band in about 1960, we played a beautiful song, whose title had to do with the dedication of the International Peace Garden. Would you have any idea what it is or if it is available today? I would recognize the first part of it if I heard it, after all these years. It has a kind of majestic feel to it.

My visit was on aug 2 ,2009 traveled from tampa florida. Wonderful presentation but difficult to hear with echos from the mall hallways .Suggest speakers be placed behind the sitting area so all will be easier to understand. Keep up the good work in maintaining the exhibit for future generations.

I wondered why the local paper for most of ND, the Forum doesn’t seem interested in printing anything much about the Horse Park. Publishing and advertisments would definitely help attendance and popularity for the sport. The Horse Park is the only one in the state and many people really do not know anything about it. My mother grew up in Dunseith, North Dakota. Her father, Henry Sunderland, wrote either the lyrics or music to a song about the International Peace Garden where he worked for a number of years. There is also a fountain on premises that has his name enscribed on the plaque. Do you have any information about either the song or the fountain?

I agree times need to posted. Im actually surprised they dont have they’re own website. It would be a wise move the internet is a useful tool and websites can be made fairly cheap these days even very basic ones for pennies and a few hours.

I agree with Merle Enger, what about days and times???? Instead of the public e-mailin to find times why can’t it be put in the paper? Canterbury and Winnipeg print their days and times.

Just another word or two about the Pfennig museum. I was surprised at the variety of bear displayed there. There was a cinnamon bear (a real one, not the candy kind) and a polar bear and a few more kinds.

A very, very interesting place to visit–and while you’re in the area, take a tour of one of the power plants. I know Basin Electric gives tours. They’re fascinating.
