Red River Zoo - Fargo, North Dakota
Red River Zoo - Fargo, North Dakota
The zoo is located on thirty-three acres of land in the southwest area of Fargo. This beautifully landscaped zoo has not only fabulous, beautiful exhibits, rolling hills but also has a series of five ponds connected by flowing streams.
The most notable aspect of the Red River Zoo is its outstanding living collection. Several endangered species live and breed in natural habitat exhibits throughout the zoo. The zoo features exotic and native animals and plants from areas around the world with similar climates to the Red River Valley. Over three hundred animals of seventy-five species reside at the Red River Zoo.
An Example of the Animals to see:
Bactrian Camel
Slender-tailed Meerkat
White-lipped Deer
Red Panda
Sichuan Takin
White-naped Crane
There are many activities for the family and for children, it’s a wonderful way to spend the day. Check out Critter Camp and the other events directed to teach the youth about the animals, their needs and the care. They will get "close up" to the animals under the supervision of the zoo staff.
In 1995, Warren and Irene Diederich of West Fargo, North Dakota donated a fully restored 1928 carousel to the Red River Zoo for the enjoyment of young and old alike.
