Buckstop Junction - Bismarck, North Dakota
Stop in and visit this historic town which was established by the Missouri Valley Historical Society to enable visitors to reminisce about eh late 1800’s and up to the early 1930’s with actual buildings from that time period.
You will be able to see the country school that was operated near Arena from 1906 to 1958. The Lein School will certainly take you back to the time when classes were smaller, attention was directed at education and life was simpler, if not better.
Frontier Village and World’s Largest Buffalo Monument - Jamestown, North Dakota
You now have the opportunity to go to a prairie town from the early days of the west. In Jamestown they have re-created the town by bringing 24 original buildings from the frontier villages across North Dakota to this site and filled them with antiques and artifacts to let you experience what life was like for those that lived on the prairie.

Basilica of St. James - Jamestown, North Dakota
After starting out in a railroad boxcar and a one room school house along with other places the Catholics that had moved into the James and Pipestem River area (now Jamestown) finally built the present church in 1914. The American gothic-style church is 140 feet long and 50 feet wide (70 feet wide at the trancepts.)
Stutsman County Memorial Museum - Jamestown, North Dakota
The Pioneer Daughters took on the challenge of taking the Lutz Mansion in Jamestown and turning it into the Stutsman County Memorial Museum in 1965. This museum offers a wide array of memorabilia reflecting the culture and life of the early pioneers of Stutman County. There are several specialize collections including: The Railroad Room, The Military Room, The Country Store, The Claim Shack, The Doll Room, The Medical Room and The Library.
Louis L’Amour Birthplace - Jamestown, North Dakota
The favorite author of millions this western writer was born in Jamestown, North Dakota. His birthname was Louis Dearborn LaMoore. He married Katherine Adams when he was 48 years old. L’Amour (a non-smoker) died in Los Angeles, California, on June 10, 1988 of lung cancer.
Pfennig Wildlife Museum - Beulah, North Dakota

You can visit the National Buffalo Museum in Jamestown, North Dakota, which has a herd of buffalo roaming around, including a rare white one, and “The World’s Largest Buffalo” which is a huge cement sculpture.

Chateau de Mores - Bismarck North Dakota
The Chateau de Mores State Historic Site is located on the edge of Medora, North Dakota. It is a site that is part of the State Historical Society of North Dakota. This site is actually comprised of three parts. It is on 128 acres, and includes the Chateau de Mores, Chimney Park, and de Mores Memorial Park. The Chateau de Mores (1/8 mile west and 1/8 miles south of Medora), Chimney Park (west edge of Medora), and de Mores Memorial Park (downtown Medora).
