The favorite author of millions this western writer was born in Jamestown, North Dakota.  His birthname was Louis Dearborn LaMoore.  He married Katherine Adams when he was 48 years old.  L’Amour (a non-smoker) died in Los Angeles, California, on June 10, 1988 of lung cancer.

Although there is not a museum in Jamestown for this talented author, there are lots of stories that people would be more than happy to share with you about his life in the community until he was the age of 15 when his family moved to Oklahoma.
