Maple River Winery - Casselton, North Dakota
Did you ever think about wine being produced in North Dakota? It is not only produced but it is an award winning winery for their Rhubarb Wine. The care and talent used to make the wines like the previous generations did from the fruit of the land has not been forgotten by Greg and Suan Kempel, owners of the winery. The Chahinkapa Zoo - Wahpeton, North Dakota
Everyone loves to visit a zoo, the opportunity to see more than 200 animals and birds of 70 different species is waiting for you at the Chahinkpa Zoo. You will be able to see such things as otters, bison, monkeys, gibbon apes, camels, snow leopards, grizzly bears, wallabies, cougars, llamas, elk and Bengal tigers. This adventure will make your kids (regardless of the age) so happy you just don’t want to miss the opportunity.
Bagg Bonanza Farm - Mooreton, North Dakota
Have you ever heard of a Bonanza Farm? This is what was created when Northern Pacific Railroad allowed stockholders to buy large tracts of land at a rate competitive with land the government sold. This was to raise the necessary capital to continue building the railroad that was crossing present day North Dakota.
Fort Abercrombie, known as the Gateway to the Dakotas, is located in the town of Abercrombie and was the first permanent military fort in North Dakota. This fort helped to guard oxcart trails, stagecoaches, and supply wagons for the military. They even guarded the steamboats that traveled the Red River. For a time, the fort was even a supply base for expeditions that sought gold in North Dakota and Montana.
The Red River Zoo, opened just about a decade ago, sits on more than thirty acres of land and features over 80 different species of animals. Some of the most impressive animals at the zoo are the ones that you won’t find in captivity in many other places. These include red pandas, white-lipped deer, Pallas cats, and Tanuki.

The Children’s Museum at Yunker Farm - Fargo, North Dakota
The Children’s Museum at Yunker Farm is located at 1201 28th Avenue North in Fargo, North Dakota and is housed in the first brick building ever built in the Dakota Territory by Newton Whitman. The house was bought by the Yunker family in 1905.
Bonanzaville Historic Village - West Fargo, North Dakota
Bonanzaville is actually an historic village containing more than forty buildings. Guests can take a step back in time to the Red River Valley at the end of the 1800s and into the early 1900s. Bonanzaville is located at 1351 Main Avenue West in West Fargo, North Dakota and is overseen by the Cass County Historical Society.
