Everyone loves to visit a zoo, the opportunity to see more than 200 animals and birds of 70 different species is waiting for you at the Chahinkpa Zoo.  You will be able to see such things as otters, bison, monkeys, gibbon apes, camels, snow leopards, grizzly bears, wallabies, cougars, llamas, elk and Bengal tigers.  This adventure will make your kids (regardless of the age) so happy you just don’t want to miss the opportunity.

One of the many nice things about the zoo is that they are committed to providing clean and green natural habitats for the animals. Being well cared for and having space to move around enhances the life of the animals as well as providing a more pleasant experience for the visitors.

The zoo has educational programs for those that want to get a better understanding of the animals and the zoo.  There are also interpretive informational signs throughout the zoo to help enhance the understanding and respect for wildlife.

The zoo setting is in the park located along the banks of the Red River of the North.  With this beautiful setting you will be able to hear song birds, see waterfowl and other wildlife as well as enjoy the zoo.

Not only is the zoo a fabulous adventure but the Prairie Rose Carousel is waiting to take you on a memorable trip from the past.  The fully restored 1926 carousel has 20 wooden horses, two chariots, and  calliope to take you to wonderful world of the past.  The carousel is open to the public every day, Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend and is located right next to the zoo.
